《白银帝国》描写的山西票号“天成元”堪称清代的全国“金融大鳄”，它掌控全国金融，兼营存放款，生意鼎盛时拥有中国各地以及俄国、蒙古、日本及南洋的二十三个分号，富可敌国。本片的主轴正是“天成元”这一商业帝国两代之间的传承故事。除了纠缠父子二人与一奇女子的三角恋情之外，更是借此传承过程表现中国两大思想体系－－法家与儒家的义理之争。在影片中，又通过对绑匪横行、八国联军、辛亥革命等一系列历史事件的背景展示，凸显出“商人重义”这一晋商不同于其它的仁义精神。。齊蒂洛娃：Calamity的故事是一輛火車遇到大雪崩而停車，我將GCD隠喻為大雪崩，人們都想脫出困境、尋找自由。......這部電影獲准拍攝，因為當時國際女性組織質問捷克政府我為何不能拍電影，他們回答說我可以拍電影，所以就讓我拍了。我提出Calamity的劇本，很快到他們就了解這部電影（的真正含意），然後禁止電影院放映這部電影。。A brother and sister move into an old seaside house they find abandoned for many years on the English coast.
